Can I save with Castle Community Bank?

Anyone who lives or works in the EH postcode area can save with Castle Community Bank.

How long will application take?

You can open your account instantly online or in a branch. Sometimes we may require additional proof of identity before you can open your account. Once you have received our welcome email you can begin saving immediately.

What checks do you do?

We only perform an identity check on savings applications. There is no credit check on savings applications.

What Information do you usually ask for?

If we do require additional information, we will only ask for proof of identity and proof of address. This will be due to our system not being able to complete our automated ID check.

Can I have more than one account?

Yes, you can have multiple savings accounts with Castle Community Bank, just like you would at any other bank.

How much can I save?

Currently you can save up to £15,000 across all your accounts with Castle Community Bank.

How can I save?

You can transfer us funds from your online banking, set up a recurring standing order, or you can pop into one of our branches and pay by cheque or cash.

How do I withdraw my money?

You can withdraw money by phoning us, coming into branch or requesting a withdrawal here.

How long does a withdrawal take?

Your withdrawal request will be processed the day it is received. Transfers are made by faster payment and will appear in your nominated bank account the same day the transfer is made.

Is my money safe?

Yes. Castle Community Bank is covered by the financial services compensation scheme. All your savings are secured up to £85,000. You can read more about the FSCS here

Do you offer joint accounts?

Yes, you can open a joint account by popping in to one of our branches. You can download an application here

How do I set up online access?

We will automatically activate your online access when you become a member of Castle Community Bank. You will receive an email containing information at this time. You will receive an email containing information on how to activate your online access when you open your account. If you did not receive this email please contact us

At the moment we are not paying interest on new savings accounts. We are still happy to take deposits into new savings accounts to support our lending in the community.
